After March 23, our district offices and Central Office will be temporarily closed and will have increasingly limited ability to receive deliveries, plans, etc. All entities are encouraged to submit plans, permit applications, etc., electronically where there are existing avenues to do so, such as the eBusiness Center (eBiz). Please refer to the list of available services on the main eBiz webpage. We encourage you to make use of all that apply, even if you have not used eBiz in the past. Plans under 25 MB can be emailed. For large plans over 25 MB, entities should work with the reviewer/division to upload via LiquidFiles. Directions for submitting docs via LiquidFiles is available on YouTube. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you in advance for your understanding. If you wish to send hard copies of documents to any of Ohio EPA’s district offices, the best method to ensure we receive these documents is to send them via U.S. Mail. Since all offices are closed, deliveries outside of U.S. Mail (FedEx, UPS) will likely be returned because the offices are closed and deliveries cannot be made.

Ohio EPA Meeting Set to Discuss SoMoCo Wastewater Discharge Permit

Virtual Public Information Session and Hearing Scheduled Oct. 21

Ohio EPA will hold a virtual public hearing on an application from the Morrow County Commissioners (on behalf of the SoMoCo Wastewater Treatment Plant) for a new wastewater discharge permit with a proposed discharge to Alum Creek. 

During the virtual public meeting, which will begin at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2020, the Agency will give a short presentation on the application and answer questions from the public. A hearing will immediately follow, during which the public may submit comments, on the record, about the application. Citizens who want to participate must register in advance of the meeting.

The application proposes to upgrade the existing wastewater treatment facility, remove the land application system currently in use, and discharge to Alum Creek. If approved, the project would replace aging infrastructure and upgrade and expand the existing treatment facility to accommodate potential area development. 

Written comments may be submitted during the virtual public hearing, or emailed to John Owen, epa.dswcomments@epa.ohio.gov with the subject line: SoMoCo. All comments received at the virtual hearing or via email by close of business on Oct. 28 will be considered by Ohio EPA prior to final action on this proposal.
