The proposed location of the plant is near the Ohio River in southern Meigs County (Letart Township) along State Route 124 in Letart Falls, Ohio.
American Municipal Power is moving forward with the permitting phase of a new base-load power plant project, known as the American Municipal Power Generating Station. The facility would consist of a two-unit power plant with two stacks, coal unloading facilities, a solid waste landfill, emissions control equipment, a substation and access roads. A proposed transmission line would connect the plant to the regional electric grid at a substation south of the Village of Racine.
An information session and public hearing have been held, or will be held, locally for each permit related to this project.
