The Institute works in conjunction with the State Department of Environmental Protection and the State Office of Technical Assistance. It is a multidisciplinary research, education, and technical support center located at University of Massachusetts Lowell.

The Washtenaw P2 Coalition is a voluntary community effort to promote source reduction, reuse, recycling and sound waste treatment practices, and to encourage the sustainable use of resources. The Coalition includes business, citizens, academia, government, institutions and other organizations. They provide training and technical assistance in Washtenaw County, Michigan.
WPA is a registered, non-governmental and non profit environmental organisation. WPA's mission is to promote Clean Production methodology, waste reduction at the source, and environmentally friendly waste management: segregation and recycling, as well as rational utilization of "historical" waste.
WMRC services include clean manufacturing and pollution prevention technical assistance. An online publications listing is available.
