hazardous waste disposal. The program's formula of education, self-assessment
and action plan motivates rural landowners to voluntary action that increases use of

This large list of links is maintained by the Tufts University, Department of Civil and
Environmental Engineering. Life Cycle Assessment is an objective process to evaluate
the environmental burdens associated with a product, process, or activity by
identifying energy and materials used and wastes released to the environment, and to

A joint project between Industry, Front Range Community College, and

- National Microscale Chemistry Center
The National Microscale Chemistry Center (NMC2) was established to promote
the use of microscale chemistry as a means of eliminating toxic waste at the source.
They offer workshops, seminars and publications on the operation and advantages of
conversion of laboratories to the microscale level.

National Pollution Prevention Center for Higher Education (NPPC)
(NPPC) develops P2 educational materials (compendia) for university
instructional faculty. These materials help faculty incorporate the
principles of P2 into existing or new courses; they contain resources for professors as well as
assignments for students.
- National Pollution Prevention Roundtable (NPPR)
NPPR is the largest membership organization in the United States devoted solely to pollution prevention (P2). The
Roundtable provides a national forum for promoting the development, implementation, and evaluation of efforts to
avoid, eliminate, or reduce pollution at the source.
The Roundtable's voting membership include state, local, and tribal
government pollution prevention programs. Affiliate
members include representatives from federal agencies, non-profit
groups, and private industry. Public sector members located
in every state and internationally, operate programs that provide
pollution prevention information and technical assistance to
thousands of industrial, commercial, and agricultural facilities
each year.

- RIPPS - Resources and Information for Pollution Prevention in the Southwest.
The RIPPS site is funded by the Environmental Protection
Agency and has been developed forthe EPA's Region 6,
which includes Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and
Texas. This site can help identify pollution prevention

- The Toxic Use Reduction Institute
(TURI)
The Institute was created to promote reduction in the use of toxic chemicals or the generation
of toxic by-products in industry and commerce in the state of Massachusetts. The Institute works in
conjunction with the State Department of Environmental Protection and the State Office of Technical
Assistance. It is a multidisciplinary research, education, and technical support center located at University of
Massachusetts Lowell.

The Washtenaw P2 Coalition is a voluntary community effort
to promote source reduction, reuse, recycling and sound waste
treatment practices, and to encourage the sustainable use of
resources. The Coalition includes business, citizens, academia,
government, institutions and other organizations. They provide
training and technical assistance in Washtenaw County, Michigan.
