Pollution Prevention Research & Information Centers - Manufacturing Assistance

  • CAMP (Cleveland Advanced Manufacturing Program)

    CAMP supports manufacturers in the Great Lakes region by providing research, technology development and deployment, training and business assistance.

  • Center for Sustainable Design (CfSD)

    The CFSD have undertaken a range of 'green design', communications, packaging and marketing projects for international companies. In addition they provide information, training and educational materials, consultation and more.

  • Center for Neighborhood Technology

    The Center for Neighborhood Technology promotes sustainable technology, pollution prevention and recycling in urban areas. They have information on air pollution, transportation, wet cleaning, and more. Site has a lot of hard data and makes case studies available.

  • Center for Industrial Services (CIS)

    CIS is a forum designed to solve production problems, boost productivity, raise quality, introduce new technology and reduce costs. It is maintained by the University of Tennessee.

  • Clean Manufacturing and Safe Materials Institute (CMTI)

    The CMTI, is a  project of Purdue University  for coordinating and deploying technical assistance, outreach, education, planning services and research to facilitate the adoption of pollution prevention/clean manufacturing strategies by Indiana manufacturing facilities.  

  • The Cygnus Group

    The Cygnus Group helps businesses successfully develop and effectively promote waste-preventing strategies, products, and packaging.

  • Energy Analysis and Diagnostic Center (EADC)--Industrial Assessment Database at Rutgers University

    This site contains databases and other information relating to pollution prevention including an industrial assessment database. It was developed through a grant from the U.S. DOE.

  • Electronics Manufacturing Productivity Facility Technical Library

    The EMPF technical library collection includes subject-specific materials related to the manufacturing of printed circuit boards, infomormation on material substitutions, and includes EMPF’s published technical and research documents.

  • IAMS - Institute of Advanced Manufacturing Sciences

    IAMS is a not-for-profit organization for manufacturers, offering respected, solution-focused implementation of change in manufacturing operations. IAMS has a history of increasing profitability while promoting pollution prevention. Of particular interest is the Pollution Prevention Information Resource for Industry Sectors (P2IRIS).

  • The National Center for Manufacturing Sciences

    A consortium of U.S. and Canadian corporations committed to making North American manufacturing globally competitive through development and implementation of next-generation manufacturing technologies. Features include: NCMS's Library Search; The NCMS Manufacturing Information Resource Center (MIRC); Next Generation Manufacturing (NGM); Company and Product Services Database; National Metal Finishers Database; and NCMS Projects, Conferences and Meetings.

  • The National Center for Remanufacturing and Resource Recovery

    The National Center for Remanufacturing and Resource Recovery provides technical assistance and applied research and development to the remanufacturing industry and manufacturers interested in remanufacturing and resource recovery techniques.

  • P2IRIS - Pollution Prevention Information Resource for Industry Sectors

    The Pollution Prevention Information Resource for Industry Sectors (P2IRIS) is an internet-based process improvement tool for the electroplating, printing and metal painting industries. It is designed to help identify and implement industry-proven techniques that achieve both manufacturing process and bottom line improvement through pollution prevention.   • Pollution Solutions

    Pollution Solutions provides resources to help businesses start up waste minimization and P2 programs.

  • Research Triangle Institute (RTI)

    RTI is an independent research institute providing research and technical services to business and government. Environmental protection is one of their research priorities. Information about RTI's work in pollution prevention ( including life cycle analysis and solvent alternatives), direct sulfur recovery process, and indoor air quality is available.

  • Small Business Environmental Assistance Program (SBEAP) .

    The Pollution Prevention Institute (PPI) at Kansas State University, assists small businesses efficiently and economically reduce and control their waste streams.

  • The Technology, Business and Environment Program at MIT

    The Technology, Business and Environment Program centers on improving business practices and linking technological change with sound environmental management. Information avaliable on industrial ecology and design for environment (DfE).

  • Tellus Institute

    A non-profit research and consulting organization devoted to resource management and environmental issues. Includes P2 information on total cost assessment and life-cycle assessment.

  • The Toxic Use Reduction Institute (TURI)

    The Institute was created to promote reduction in the use of toxic chemicals or the generation of toxic by-products in industry and commerce in the state of Massachusetts. The Institute works in conjunction with the State Department of Environmental Protection and the State Office of Technical Assistance. It is a multidisciplinary research, education, and technical support center located at University of Massachusetts Lowell.

  • UCLA Center for Clean Technology

    UCLA's CCT hosts a wide range of projects addressing many of the substantial engineering challenges in developing innovative pollution prevention technologies. Their site lists many new and innovative technologies for waste reduction and raw material recovery.

  • WeldNet - Edison Welding Institute (EWI)

    Edison Welding Institute maintains its home pages for various programs within the Institute, as well as access to the WeldNet databases. EWI provides practical welding and joining solutions to the automotive, appliance, welding equipment, heavy manufacturing, electronics, medical aerospace, defense, primary metals, plastics, power generation and process industries.
