Air National Guard Environmental Awards for 121st AW

On 24 May 04 the annual Air National Guard Environmental Awards were presented in Gulfport, Miss.

The 121st ARW Recycling Team received the Air National Guard Recycling Award for Team Excellence, this award recognizes the team that contributed the most to the Air National Guard's recycling programs during the previous and current fiscal year . The following areas were judged for this award:

• Developing Methods to Recycle Hazardous Chemicals Used in Industrial Processes,
• Improving Office, Work Area and Curbside Recycling,
• Purchasing Recycled Content Goods and Materials,
• Promoting and Improving Installation Composting, and
• Enhancing Recycling Awareness.

The 121st ARW Environmental Manager (Mr. Roger Jones) received the Air National Guard Environmental Quality Award for Individual Excellence, this award recognizes the person that contributed the most to the Air National Guard's environmental quality during the previous and current fiscal year. The following areas were judged for this award:

• Integrating environmental protection into installation decision making,
• Identifying and correcting program deficiencies,
• Developing and implementing innovative solutions to enhance the environment,
• Establishing good working relationships with other agencies and the local community,
• Conducting environmental training, and
• Promoting environmental awareness.
