Office of Pollution Prevention staff are experienced in providing information about pollution prevention opportunities. The office maintains its own library, containing over 3,000 documents, and a vendor database of companies providing equipment and services related to pollution prevention. Staff search the Internet and technical journal, industry, and government databases for the latest information. Staff also have contacts with experts in government and industry.

The Office of Pollution Prevention's services are non-regulatory.

The Office of Pollution Prevention provides non-regulatory technical assistance ranging from over the phone to on-site. The Office of Pollution Prevention provided assistance to over 3,000 customers in 1995. In order for us to better assist you, please keep in mind the following guidelines when requesting information:

  • Please give background information about your facility and processes related to your question. This information will help us to put your question into context, and will also help to narrow the search.
  • Please indicate the urgency of the request.
  • Because questions and answers may be available as an archive through our Web pages on the Internet in the future, please do not send any information you consider confidential.

Example pollution prevention information requests:

  • Information on how to increase metal recovery and decrease the amount of water used in a plating process.
  • Request on-site technical assistance or a pollution prevention assessment.
  • Vendors of powder coating equipment.
  • Case studies of Ohio facilities that have installed energy efficient lighting (participants in the EPA Green Lights program).
