Ohio EPA announces a new grant program expected to award up to $10 million in Federal Highway Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) funding for clean diesel projects in 2012 and another $10 million in 2013. The Request for Proposals and application materials are posted below.

NEW!  Ohio EPA is currently reviewing 44 DERG applications submitted in March and requesting $42.7 million.  We have $10 million available to award, and expect to have another $10 million available for the next application cycle, which will have a 9/28/12 application deadline.  We expect to release the Request for Proposals for the September cycle in June.

On April 20th, US EPA released a RFP announcing the availability of an additional $20 million in funding for clean diesel projects.  Applications must be submitted by June 4th.  That RFP can be found at:  http://www.epa.gov/diesel/prgnational.htm

We hope to announce which DERG applications will be funded this cycle before the applications are due for US EPA's funding opportunity, but we wanted to make all DERG interested parties aware of the opportunity with US EPA as soon as possible.

Request for Proposals- released February 17, 2012- IS NOW CLOSED.  We are leaving the old application posted to give applicants an idea of what the next RFP will request when it is posted.

Application Timeline

The next RFP will be posted in June.  The next application deadline will be September 28, 2012 at 5:00pm.

Questions and answers from the March conference calls-  posted 3/28/12.  Note to applicants:  If you have already completed the Diesel Emissions Quantifier estimates and cost effective estimates estimates for your project, or already submitted your application, it is NOT necessary to revise those estimates at this late date.  We will consider your application as submitted, and work with you to make any needed revisions to those estimates in order for us to compare all applicants using the same methodology.  We apologize for the delay in posting these answers.

Awards are expected to be announced by the end of May 2012, and will be posted here.

These funds will be administered jointly by the Ohio Department of Transportation (public sector projects) and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (private sector projects). The DERG program was administered by the Ohio Department of Development for the past two years, and that Department will continue to administer the grants they previously awarded. Previously funded projects are listed at http://development.ohio.gov/DERG/Default.htm.
