Ohio Comparative Risk Project Publications
The Ohio Comparative Risk Project was a citizen-based environmental planning project that evaluated environmental problems in Ohio based on scientific evidence and public values. Phase 1 of the Project involved gathering quantitative scientific data about environmental conditions in Ohio, and data about the public's environmental concerns and priorities. The resulting ranking of 45 potential threats to Ohioans' health, environment, and quality of life are published in the Ohio State of the Environment Report, with a companion report Facts and Figures About Ohio's Environment. During Phase 2, Project participants identified and evaluated potential strategies to reduce risks from environmental threats. A Citizen Guide to Reducing Environmental Risk contains strategies individual citizens can use. Strategies aimed at Ohio decision makers were published in the Phase 2 Report, Recommendations to Reduce Environmental Risk in Ohio. Copies of these reports have been placed in county libraries across the state, and a limited number are available from the Office of Environmental Education at 614-644-2873.
