Information Sources

Ohio's Materials Exchange (OMEx)
The OMEx program is designed to help industries exchange useful waste materials. For example, an exchange of materials could occur between a company that produces large amounts of sawdust which is normally discarded, and another company that purchases sawdust for use in its daily business practices. Visit the Website: www.epa.state.oh.us/ocapp/p2/omex/omex.html or call 888/718-OMEx (6639).

Ohio EPA's Wood Waste Directory provides names and numbers of businesses that recycle wood waste. Click for Website or call 614/644-3469.

Steel Recycling Institute (SRI)
The Steel Recycling Institute offers a free referral service for C&DD recycling efforts. The SRI Hotline, 1-800-YES-1-CAN (937-1226), can provide the name, address, telephone number and contact of a local scrap processor. The operator will be able to describe what types of recyclable materials are accepted or purchased including ferrous and non-ferrous metals, glass containers, plastic containers and some paper products.
