The Mill Creek (Scioto) Watershed TMDL
Background
The Mill Creek Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) report was approved by U.S. EPA on September 2, 2003. It is the seventh Ohio TMDL project approved by U.S. EPA under Section 303(d) of the Clean Water Act. TMDLs identify and evaluate water quality problems in impaired water bodies and propose solutions to bring those waters into attainment.
Mill Creek is in the Scioto River basin, and flows through Logan, Union, and Delaware Counties before its confluence with the Scioto River. The impairment issues addressed by this TMDL are all in Union County; the portions of the stream in Logan and Delaware counties are in attainment.
The Mill Creek (Scioto) TMDL is primarily a point-source-oriented TMDL. The TMDL addresses an instream dissolved oxygen problem attributed to the Marysville WWTP, and ammonia and nutrient loading to Crosses Run, attributed to the Scotts Company.
