Industrial Waste Beneficial Use (OAC 3745-525)November 30, 2007 Update: On February 6, 2007, the initial interested party review (IPR) comment period ended for the Beneficial Use Rules. Due to the level of interest in these rules, the Director has decided to conduct a second IPR for these rules. The Division of Surface Water expects to have a responsiveness summary that addresses all the comments received from the initial IPR comment period (over 200 comments were received), as well as a revised set of draft rules, ready for public viewing and comment in early 2008. The second IPR comment period will provide interested parties with at least 30 days to comment. The initial draft rules are available below. BackgroundOhio EPA's goal is to develop common-sense regulations for industrial waste. These rules will address beneficial use options specifically for non-hazardous, non-radioactive industrial wastes, generated from manufacturing/industrial processes. Other wastes generated by industries such as construction demolition debris, office wastes and cafeteria wastes are not included in this initiative. More background information is on the Industrial Waste Beneficial Use Team Web Page. Draft RulesBecause these are new rules, all text is underlined.
