Environmental Mitigation and Special Permitting Section

The Environmental Mitigation and Special Permitting Section has three responsibilities:

  • Review and follow-up environmental mitigation required as part of the final issuance of all Section 401 Water Quality Certifications and Isolated Wetland Permits
  • Review and issue Section 401 Water Quality Certifications and Isolated Wetland Permits for all Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) projects
  • Review and issue Section 401 Water Quality Certifications and Isolated Wetland Permits for surface coal mining projects

Environmental Mitigation

Once a Section 401 Water Quality Certification or Isolated Wetland Permit including mitigation is issued, a period of five or more years of reporting and follow-up site visits is required.
