Infectious Waste and Composting Unit

 
 
 

This unit consists of two programs, the infectious waste program and the solid waste composting program.

The infectious waste unit is responsible for:

  • Rule promulgation and interpretation and revision of existing rules;
  • Providing training and technical assistance to the general public, regulated community and local health departments;
  • Issuance of registration certificates for infectious waste generators and transporters;
  • Evaluation of alternative infectious waste treatment technologies.

The solid waste composting unit is responsible for:

  • Rule promulgation and interpretation and revision of existing rules; providing training and technical assistance to the general public, regulated community and local health departments;
  • Registration and classification of composting facilities;
  • Evaluation of alternative materials approval requests (feed stocks, bulking agents, and additives).
