Central Office
The Division's Central Office is located in Columbus. Central Office is responsible for establishing program direction, developing the budget and providing the resources necessary to implement an effective, quality program throughout the state. The Central Office consists of the Division Chief, Assistant Chief and staff and management in three sections:

District Offices
To manage programs at the local level, the Division is served by five Ohio EPA district offices. While DHWM staff and management in the district offices report directly to the Chief of the district office, program direction is developed, maintained and overseen by Central Office: 

District personnel do the following activities:

  • review permit applications and write renewal and modified permits;  
  • respond to complaints; 
  • inspect hazardous waste handlers;
  • prepare recommendations for enforcement; 
  • oversee the cleanup of  hazardous waste sites; 
  • provide technical assistance 
  • review corrective action-related documents and oversee their implementation;
  • interact with and respond directly to the public and the regulated community; and
  • coordinate their activities with other Ohio EPA divisions
