Ohio EPA's Voluntary Action Program (VAP) is excited to announce that our Environmental Insurance Program (EIP) will begin on July 20, 2009. This program will allow VAP volunteers (and others with an interest in the brownfield property) the ability to obtain Pollution Legal Liability (PLL) Environmental Insurance at a 10% discount off the standard premium rate. The Site Assistance & Brownfield Revitalization Program (SABR) serves as the contact for brownfields or contaminated sites not yet in any cleanup program (e.g., VAP, remedial response, Superfund, RCRA corrective action). In conjunction with the districts, SABR:
- maintains Ohio’s Brownfield Inventory of sites at which response actions may occur in the next year;
- coordinates site assessment, oversees Ohio’s brownfields program, markets Ohio’s cleanup programs and conducts outreach and training to local governments concerning brownfield issues:
- is the point of coordination for assessment and clean up grant questions;
- provides community revitalization support (CRS) to local governments in locating funding (both state and federal), determining the correct environmental program and finding technical assistance; and
- provides response to DERR database requests
- will oversee VAP certification programs (Certified Biocriteria Evaluators, Certified Laboratories and Certified Professionals) including tracking and training
- manage the upcoming environmental insurance program
