The city of Oregon is receiving a loan from Ohio EPA to reduce storm water infiltration and inflow into the city’s sanitary sewer, eliminating sanitary sewer overflows and improving water quality in Maumee Bay.

The village of Hicksville is receiving a principal forgiveness loan from Ohio EPA to reduce storm water infiltration into a combined sewer. This will improve the efficiency of the wastewater treatment plant, reduce combined sewer overflows and improve water quality in Mill Creek.

March 17, 2017 Caldwell to Design Improvements in Wastewater Collection System
Caldwell is taking steps to improve the village’s wastewater collection system which, in turn, will help reduce or eliminate overflows from combined storm and sanitary sewers. A low-interest loan from Ohio EPA will finance a study of the sewer system and planning for the elimination of three combined sewer overflow pipes.

The community will retrofit existing green infrastructure with non-edible, perennial plants that will be serve two purposes – storm water control and public programming craft demonstrations.

June 16, 2015 Grants to Focus on Reducing Nutrients In Lake Erie
Improving water quality in Ohio’s lakes and streams – especially those susceptible to blue-green algae – is a focus of this year’s federal grants for water quality improvement. Innovative and/or highly effective projects within the Lake Erie Watershed will receive strong consideration for part of the approximately $2 million funding available through Section 319 of the Clean Water Act.
