2015 Sport Fish Consumption Advisory Reflects Some Significant Improvements
Some Ohio waterways are showing signs of improvement based on sampling conducted for the 2015 sport fish consumption advisory. All “Do Not Eat” advisories for the Mahoning River have been removed and replaced with less stringent advisories described below. There are also improved advisories listed for Lake Erie, the Tiffin River and Findley Lake.

Ohio EPA Identifies Improvements to Wastewater Discharge Permit Renewals
Efforts by an Ohio EPA process improvement team are expected to speed up the wastewater discharge permitting renewal process and ensure permit holders are following the most recent water quality standards. The effort was part of Lean Ohio, a quality improvement process that uses Kaizen and Six Sigma principles and typically improves efficiency by 50 percent.

The WPCLF is a revolving loan fund that provides low-interest loans and other financial and technical assistance for a variety of projects to address the quality of Ohio's rivers, streams, lakes and other water bodies.

Ohio EPA Awards $50,000 Environmental Education Grants to Statewide Organizations
Ohio Energy Project and Efficiency Smart will each receive a $50,000 grant to help teach elementary school children about energy. Eleven grants were awarded statewide for $304,136.
