Ohio Lake Erie Commission to Hold Annual Meeting Wednesday in Cuyahoga Heights, OH
Commission will present the 2013 "Life on Lake Erie" Photo Contest Winners,
Announce the 2013 Ohio Lake Erie Awards
SANDUSKY -- The Ohio Lake Erie Commission will hold its quarterly meeting at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013 at the CanalWay Center, 4524 East 49th Street, Cuyahoga Heights.
Highlighting the agenda will be the announcement of the “Life on Lake Erie” photo contest winners and the 2013 Ohio Lake Erie Awards that honor an individual and organization that have served to protect and restore Lake Erie.
The agenda also includes:
- Jim White, director of Sustainable Infrastructure for the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority, will present a special report “Update on Sustainable Sediment Practices.”
- The latest round of Lake Erie Protection Fund grant proposals will be selected for those projects that will benefit Lake Erie.
- Executive Director Gail Hesse will discuss the 2013 Coastweeks program occurring in September and provide an update on the next edition of the Lake Erie Protection and Restoration Plan.
All meetings of the Ohio Lake Erie Commission are open to the public and include a public comment period. Organizations and citizens are encouraged to attend this meeting and provide input on issues of concern.
The Ohio Lake Erie Commission was created to preserve Lake Erie's natural resources, enhance its water quality and promote economic development in the region. The director of the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency serves as the commission's chairman. Additional members include the directors of the departments of transportation, development, health, agriculture and natural resources.
