Ohio EPA Schedules Meeting to Discuss Proposed Geneva Landfill Expansion
A proposal to expand the Geneva Landfill in Ashtabula County will be the focus of a June 28, 2012, Ohio EPA information session. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at the Northwest Ambulance District, 1480 South Broadway, Geneva.
Ohio EPA is reviewing a permit application submitted by USA Waste Geneva Landfill Inc. for a lateral and vertical expansion of its landfill located at 4339 Tuttle Road. If approved, the permit would allow the facility to expand laterally by 69.7 acres and vertically over 5.8 acres of existing landfill, allowing for an additional 14.6 million cubic yards of capacity. The maximum amount of waste the landfill receives would remain at 1,500 tons per day.
The information session will be an opportunity to learn more and ask questions about the permit application, Ohio’s solid waste regulations and Ohio EPA’s permitting process.
A copy of the permit application is available for review at Ohio EPA’s Northeast District Office in Twinsburg by first calling (330) 963-1200.
